Xure, a burgeoning mobile marketplace designed for collectors, is setting its sights on an ambitious goal of recruiting 500 accredited sellers by 2026. The platform is banking on the increasing need for a reliable, technology-driven marketplace that caters specifically to serious collectors. Chief Executive Officer Joseph Sarmiento discussed the company's plans in a recent email, highlighting the growing appetite for a trusted environment in the collectible trading space.
Expanding Auction Formats and Seller Tools
To attract more sellers, Xure is enhancing its auction formats and seller tools, which include timed auctions, live auctions, and pre-selling mechanics. Sarmiento believes these advancements will appeal to both independent collectors and established retailers looking for a more reliable and collector-centric platform. "As we expand our auction formats and enhance seller tools," he stated, "we expect continued adoption from independent collectors and established retailers seeking a more trusted, collector-focused platform." This strategic expansion is aimed at driving growth in both user engagement and gross merchandise value.
Addressing Trust and Transparency Issues
Xure aims to tackle some significant challenges in online collectible trading, such as the lack of trust in peer-to-peer transactions, counterfeit items, and fragmented buying and selling channels. Many transactions currently occur in informal chat groups, where protection and transparency are limited. Sarmiento pointed out that traditional marketplaces often focus primarily on transactions rather than fostering community and trust. In contrast, Xure allows users to record, share, and manage their collections within the app for sale or appraisal, creating a more secure environment for collectors.
Innovative Features for Serious Collectors
Unlike other platforms, Xure integrates community features with commerce, aiming to provide a structured digital infrastructure specifically for serious collectors. The app's Xchange feature supports timed auctions, pre-order mechanics, and negotiations, reflecting more accurately how collectibles are traded in practice. Buyers can access authentication or appraisal details directly within the platform, enhancing confidence in their transactions. Collectors can also follow each other, build their profiles, and discover rare items, enriching the community aspect of the platform.
Leveraging AI for Pricing Insights
In a bid to further assist sellers, Xure is incorporating artificial intelligence-driven price analysis and smart pricing recommendations. These tools will help sellers benchmark fair market value based on transaction data and prevailing market trends. The platform's design is inspired by practices in the art world, allowing users to maintain anonymity or conceal pricing information within their "Virtual Closet." This feature gives collectors control over the visibility of their holdings, aligning with the privacy many collectors wish to maintain.
Since its launch in 2023, Xure has garnered a user base of over 5,600 registered users. The platform has gained recognition as one of six startups in the 13th cohort of the IdeaSpace Startup Accelerator Program, supported by MUP Group. As it continues to expand its offerings and improve user experience, Xure is poised to become a leading player in the collector marketplace. By focusing on trust, community, and innovative auction formats, the company aims to transform how collectibles are traded, ensuring that both buyers and sellers feel secure in their transactions.
